Rock Chick Revolution (Rock Chick #8) by Kristen Ashley

Ally Nightingale has secrets. Secrets she doesn't even share with the Rock Chicks. But two men know what she's up to. One has her back. The other has her heart, but he doesn't know it.
As Ally rewinds the last year of her life, she knows two things. One, she’s never going to get what every Rock Chick should have—her own Hot Bunch guy. And two, she’s a Nightingale through and through. She just isn’t sure what to do about that.

But as her secrets are revealed, the men in her life react. Darius Tucker, a lifelong friend, as usual takes her back. Ren Zano, the man she loves, isn’t quite so sure. The Rock Chicks, Hot Bunch and the entire gang at Fortnum’s weigh in, and a Rock Chick Revolution starts brewing.
It’s up to Ally to control it and prove what she knows down to her bones.
She’s a Rock Chick, she deserves her hot guy and she’s going to keep the one she wants…

Because she’s a Nightingale.
Okay so this goes against my review policy, I usually review books in series order but sometimes a book/author is the exception. Kristen Ashley is the exception minions. I was unsure how this would leave me feeling being the final book in the series and all, but surprisingly it left me beyond pleased and immensely ecstatic. As per usual Kristen does not disappoint, Ally's story reunites us with our much loved Rock Chick gang, and that style of writing that is just simply one of a kind.
Meeting Ally in the very first Rock Chick book, I have been beyond curious when she'd get her Hot Guy. No doubt about it Ally is different from the typical Rock Chick, in the sense she's a cool, independent badass and a woman of mystery. I loved Kristen's rewind through Ally, revisiting some of our favorite scenes and coming to understand how her and Ren began. It also went a long way in filling in the blanks in Ally's life, through each and every book so as usual it was hard not to become enthralled. Now her and Ren didn't get off to the greatest start, but then again no real Rock Chick relationship ever does, but their chemistry was impossible to deny.
"How many times do I have to tell you? We're fuck buddies, Zano."
He shook his head again, his thumb sweeping across my cheek and his face getting so close to mine, his lips nearly brushing my own.
"No baby, we're not. I've had fuck buddies, Ally. And not one of them looked like you look when I slide inside you, every fucking time I slide inside you. Like a piece of you has been lost and now it's found."
No question Ally is a certified badass, coming from a family of fearless badasses well it's not really surprising I guess. From Indy's story we knew Ally hadn't found her calling, and seeing her realize and accept herself was awe-inspiring. She faced opposition left, right and center but she knew in her heart not only was she good at what she does but she was born to do this, nothing or no one was going to change that. She fought and earned the respect of her family and friends, and that minions is beautiful. She knew what she did and didn't want out of life, and so sacrifices had to be made, the kind most people wouldn't be willing to make.
“There’s nowhere to go with this,” I hissed, and he shut his mouth. “We’ve been around this and around it and it leads nowhere. I have no fucking clue why you worked so hard to get in there with me when you didn’t want me. But you did. Now, you need to move on. Because I’m me. And if you can’t accept me as I am, then we’re done.”
Ren was simply luscious. I absolutely loved him. Sufficed to say he wasn't all that keen on Ally's chosen path of badassery, being an alpha male and all he was all about protecting his woman. By any means necessary. However he talked about it with her instead of doing the whole 'Me, Tarzan. You, my woman.' routine, so I fell even more in love with him when he explained his concerns in a sexy yet sweet way.
“You want this. And what you want to do means so much to you that you would let me be who I am, look into accepting my faith, love me that much, but walk away. Then you take that hurt so deep, you’re on autopilot, lettin’ out the woman inside you hold close and only dole out occasionally, but give to me. And you do shit like kiss Smithie to say hello when you never would do that shit. It means that much, then you can have it. And me. I’ll worry, but I’ll learn to trust you. All I ask is, when you got my babies inside you, you take cases you know are safe, and once we got kids under our roof, you proceed with the same caution. You with me?”
He respected, cared and loved her. Everything he did was to ensure she stayed safe, and he never gave up on her, gave up on them. He fought to clear up all confusions and open her eyes to what they had, one has to admire that determination when most would say 'screw it'. They had each others back no matter what, giving that unique magical KA touch to their love story.  When they begin their official 'together together', I loved every moment of it unlike the previous Rock Chick relationships there was no huge build up. Just straight up talk and working on making it work, in any way possible.
You gave me a run for my money, and once I stopped finding it a pain in my ass and started enjoying it, I did nothing but. I enjoyed every fuckin’ second, Ally. And every fuckin’ second I’ve never doubted how I was feeling. And just to be clear, how I was feeling, every day through this game we’ve been playing, was that I was falling deeper in love with you.”

Like all of KA's work she has that special touch, there were moment s that made you swoon, sigh dreamily, laugh out loud, squeal like a 5 year old, happy dance, get all teary eyed, feel your heart beating way to fast and just clutch your Kindle with a huge smile. Those classic KA interactions done to near perfection, that inner monologue we can all relate to and those bonds between characters that leave you spellbound.
As usual it might have been their story, but we saw a lot of our favorite characters. We also got a closer look at the sibling relationship between Lee, Hank and Ally, which was just incredibly endearing. But another big part was Darius, the most we've ever heard or seen of him and it was so achingly enchanting I was a goner. I'd love to see KA's story for him, he deserves a HEA. The most beautiful thing about this series, is that I personally feel like I know the each and every one of the characters. I've laughed, cried, screamed and swooned with them. I've been there through their ups, downs and moments of complete craziness. Saying goodbye is impossible, because I know it's not over so it's more like see you around. This series means a lot to me, when I needed an escape it was their and it is by far the best I've ever read.
Because it wasn’t perfect, none of it.
But it was a fairytale.
And people needed to believe in fairytales.
Even flawed ones.
Maybe especially flawed ones.
And they needed to believe always.
The ending was splendiferous, everything came full circle. No loose ends. It was heart warming and yet bittersweet all at the same time, with an indication of the future for the next book. I give this book 5 glorious stars, and strongly recommend. If you haven't read the series I'd seriously start like NOW! There's clearly something not right with you, and just stating facts but you are SO missing out. This was so totally a Righteous Read.

Rock Chick (Rock Chick #1) by Kristen Ashley

Indy Savage, cop's daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest and Indy finally gave up. Now Indy's employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of diamonds and bad guys are shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee is forced to help. Complicating matters, Lee has decided he's interested, Indy's decided she's not. But she can't seem to keep Lee out of her life when she's repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are car bombs exploding (not to mention she's finding dead bodies).
Indy's best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee's challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her heart.

Absolute dynamite. Gawd after Sweet Dreams ya’ll know I read everything Kristen Ashley, and my obsession didn’t really kick off until Rock Chick. It’s hilarious, romantic, action packed and full of panty dropping moments. I don’t know how KA does it, seriously the woman is a genius! Rock Chick is quite simply remarkable, it’s a unique read that will stick with you for-like-ever! I would know I’ve read it more than once, it’s just that kind of book that always brings you back for more. I don’t think I could gush over this book enough, no matter what I say it won’t seem adequate enough but I'm gonna try.

The story is about India ‘Indy’ Savage, and she has been in love with Liam ‘Lee’ Nightingale forever. For some reason Lee never reciprocated her feelings and she didn’t get why, they grew up together and then Lee went away to the army and everything changed, but Lee has his reasons. He went from the bad boy heartthrob she grew up with to a badass PI extraordinaire with his own business. Zoom forward to the future and Indy runs into a spot of trouble with one of her friends, thus we are thrown into a world with bad guys, diamonds, car chases, shoot outs, drag queen performances you’ll remember for a lifetime, abundant kidnappings, steamy bedroom scenes and well essentially complete mayhem all over Denver. Indy is the sassiest character I’ve ever encountered, I mean the girl doesn’t know when to stop talking which is basically what lands her in her current predicament to begin with, enter Lee. Indy is a heroine you absolutely adore, she’s smart, independent, feisty, vivacious, and hilarious. The woman gives back just as good as she gets in really a fun-loving way. The best thing with Indy and Lee’s romance is she tries (and fails) to keep Lee at a distance, she’ll take his help but that’s it. It’s amusing to watch the lengths she goes to in order to not fall for Lee again, her endeavours are majorly entertaining especially when Lee squishes every attempt by being his hot, bad ass self.
“Maybe we should have this conversation in an alternate universe where Alternate Indy gives a shit what Alternate Lee wants her to wear.”
“I turned to Eddie. "Okay, I've never done this. This is the guy's department. What do I do? We need to get Lee's size and we need industrial strength. Show me which ones to buy." Eddie looked at the display and looked to me. "You're askin' me to help you buy condoms for Lee?" "Industrial strength condoms," I reminded him. Eddie stared at me like he was re-thinking his crush on me. "okay," I said, trying to be helpful, "we'll break it down. We'll start with the size." He shook his head. "First, I'm a little worried you're lookin' to me to tell you Lee's size. Lee es mi hermano , but we aren't that close. Second, they don't come in sizes.”

Ooooo-Weee Liam Nightingale! I love you! He is the epitome of an alpha bad ass, pushing his hotness factor off the freaking scale. Quite simply Liam Nightingale is a yummilicious, sexy, bad ass, don’t fuck with me alpha sundae, with a strong dose of possessiveness as the cherry on top! He’s a real straight talker, no nonsense guy who when he wants something he gets it no messing around. And the only option you have is to simply deal. What you see is what you get with him, and he’s 100% honest about himself so much so he sounds cocky at times but I still love him. He steps in to take Indy’s back, ‘cause the situation is extreme as well as dangerous and Lee is finally at a place in his life where he can finally stake his claim on Indy, and he is not going to let anyone eff this up not even Indy herself. I loved the familiarity between the characters, it made their fast paced romance more realistic and added that little something extra to make it special.
“Lee, you’re gonna have to get over this jealous-possessiveness thing.” “Indy, you’re gonna have to get used to the fact that I’m the jealous-possessive type.”
“If it’s just you sharing your feelings, perhaps you can voice it less like an order,” I suggested. “I’m used to giving orders and if it sounds like one then there’s always a chance you’ll obey.”
Like most of KA’s books despite the love story going on, there is so much going in the background you are never, and I mean NEVER bored. All the extra stuff going on is not confusing in any way, in fact it adds to the story itself rather perfectly. What’s more we get to meet awesome side characters, we’re given more than enough information on them for us to not just like them but love them and understand the roles the play not just within the story but within the series itself. Basically KA’s character development is spot on as usual and you’ll have no qualms, her writing style is effortless drawing you right into the minds of the characters.
“They’re on Lee and Indy Sex Watch.” “Come again?” “They want to know when we’ve done it.” Silence. I went on. “If we don’t do it soon, they might force us to at gunpoint.” “Christ.” “I know. No pressure though. I told them we’re taking is slow.” “You have to report in?” “I kind of feel obliged.” “How’s that?” I didn’t want to tell him I’d recruited them both for Lee Maneuvres in the past, so I said, “Never mind.” “If something doesn’t happen soon, it’s gonna be bad. I can’t keep focussed, all I can think of is what’s on your Victoria’s Secret credit statement. “You need to keep focused,” I told him, “bad guys are after me.” “Tell me about it.”
I give this kick-ass book 5 humongous stars! I love, adore and…and…and just LOVE this book. I can’t seem to express to you how much I love this book, seriously it is absolutely brilliant and I loved every freaking second of it. This has nothing to do with me being obsessed with Kristen, this is all to do with me being an avid reader, I know what I like in books and what I hate so trust me when I say if there was fault with anything in this book I would so tell you minions. This book will have you bent over in a fit of giggles, sighing in awe, swooning, screaming in frustration and frantically turning the pages. Seriously guys, BUY NOW!
