Bad boy, Travis Maddox, handsome, built, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs - and wants - to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight club, and his days as the notorious college Lothario.
A disaster waiting to happen…
Intrigued by Abby's resistance to his charms, Travis tricks her into his life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain celibate for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis' apartment for the same amount of time.
Or the start of something beautiful?
Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match. Or that this is the start of an obsessive, intense relationship that will lead them both into unimaginable territory…”
Abby is an interesting protagonist, she’s so focused on running away from her past she won’t even acknowledge her feelings for Travis. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and seriously like when has any heroine ever lasted long when it comes to drop dead gorgeous tattooed bad boys? I loved how we aren’t told what Abby’s running from, so it allows the readers imagination to run away with all sorts. But jeez is her dad a douche, I really wish Travis caused some serious damage I would have loved him even more (if that’s even possible). I really felt for her as I understood why she was wary around Travis and how she honestly believed keeping their relationship platonic was essential, but it totally annoyed me when she went for Parker just ‘cause he fit the description of who she ‘should’ be with. To be completely honest Parker sounded like a stuck up snob who believed he was better than everyone including Abby, she was pussyfooting around him the whole time it was so frustrating, he really needed a good punch in the face, thank gawd Abby slaps him at one point! It’s annoying to believe Abby would prefer that douche over sweet, thoughtful, funny, beautiful Travis….*sigh*
I totally freaking loved America, she is the funniest best friend ever! No bullshit just straight up talk, gawd knows Abby needed it. America knows Abby’s past and followed her to Eastern, talk about a true friend, so you totally love her for being Team Travis and not taking any of Abby’s crap. I loved loved LOVED Finch, what a sweetheart! And the coolest gay bff ever! I thought he was hilarious. For some reason every time I picture him I see Finn from Glee lol. Shepley was so adorable I just wanted to give him a great big cuddle. I felt for him with his fears of Travis doing what he does best, ‘fucking up’, but gawd knows Travis tried really freaking hard to not let his cousin down. It was understandable as he’s been burned in the past due to Travis’s man-whore ways, but come on even we could see this was different for Travis, Abby is not ‘some girl’ she is ‘THE girl’.
Okay so now I’m going to rant about my obsession with the amazing Travis Maddox. *Sigh* Where do I start? Travis is your typical hot tattooed bad boy, he’s a total player, gorgeous, smart, funny, an underground fighter, and just plain AWESOME! *Swoons*
“I know we’re fucked up, all right? I’m impulsive, and hot-tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then you need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don’t deserve you…but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I’ve loved anyone or anything, ever. When you’re around, I don’t need booze, or money, or the fighting, or the one-night stands…all I need is you. You’re all I think about. You’re all I dream about. You’re all I want.”
I 100% recommend this to all readers who love a hot sizzling romance with a hot troubled tattooed bad boy and a girl with a secret. Seriously if you don’t read this book you suck, and well I just feel sorry for you because dude you have no idea what the hell you’re missing. I regret ever overlooking this book as just ‘another romance’, and boy have I paid the price for ever thinking that. Jamie McGuire is an amazing author and I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
